Projekt HWA EVO.R Art Car

This project was personal to me from the start; I drive a W123 daily, I loved my station wagon 124 in Lapis Blue Metallic, and I was lucky enough to take part in the Mille Miglia 2022 in a Mercedes-Benz 300 SL. Doing an art car project with the basis of the HWA EVO.R racing at the Nürburgring felt like completing a journey. For me, an art car design has to work with the car, not just on it. Letting the original design speak is always key — as is the environment in which it will live. And there is a certain kind of magic during a 24-hour race, when twilight changes to pitch black and you get these flashes of headlights passing. That's where I saw this project living — in the twilight.

My design for the HWA EVO.R × WEMPE Art Car focuses on the process of design and manufacturing itself. The lines are meant to show the car reduced to its barest form. I hope fans can recognise it when it shoots past them, or rolls into the pits for a driver change at 4:30 am. Racing at the 2026 ADAC RAVENOL 24h Nürburgring under starting number #61, this is a car built for the Green Hell — and a project that I’m happy to see live on in my products.
